I use it
Reason? I'm not about to shell out a lot of money just to have the Microsoft brand name when a free alternative does everything I need it to do.

All I do is write papers for classes (college student here). OpenOffice.org allows me to do just that, and nobody knows or cares that I'm not using Word.

So - Word is a big loss, while OpenOffice.org is no loss for me. Of course, this may vary based on the customer, as businesses will need to consider training and installation costs, but for the individual it's a no-brainer.
