Never mind that the format is slow and crap, as long as it is "politically correct" e.g "open".

Regardless of whether you agree or disagree about the OpenOffice vs MS saga, the point remains that choosing XML and then basing the standard on possibly the worst implementation of XML has led to the disastrous decision of choosing the slowest, most bloated format as the "standard" that is now being submitted to ISO.

What ever happened to "using the best tool for the job?"
