This is exactly why...

The GPL and open source overall cannot provide true innovation in the software industry. Open source is only good at commoditizing, it is never any good at innovating and never will be. Oil and water.

Reminds me of the South Park episode where Cartman tries to get rid of all the hippies. The hippies all say, "We have to get rid of those evil corporations, man" Then when Stan and Kyle wait for them to do something the hippies take a drag off their doobie. When I think about the GPL that image comes to my mind everytime.
