There is a difference between the mainframe and the high-end server market.

Windows increasingly dominates the mid-high tier servers while IBM, Sun, etc dominate the mainframe market. But this market continues to shrink and in fact, these mainframes are being REPLACED by x86 machines. And most of these machines, are Windows machines.

From the article I posted:

"most Unix, mainframe, and OS/400 server sales are recorded, declined for the quarter, which means sales of X86 Linux and Windows servers more than made up for declining sales of bigger boxes"

>> but for high end computing get *nix<<

Sorry, it looks like high end computing is going the other way, and running away from *nix happy
