That's definitely true, but primarily because Linux has not had any significant competition in the cluster market up until now (well, fine, OSX, but that's another proprietary OS like Windows).

I would imagine the market situation would change once MS releases a clustered version of Windows. Note that clustered servers account for 20% of the Linux market. As this is 0% for MS, Windows has nowhere to go but up. Windows is already tied with Unix for high-end servers:
