Different Advertising Cultures
I'll admit that there are parts to the alliance that I don't care for -- specifically, I've always viewed Google as one who advertises "this is what we can do" and Sun as on whose approach is "the other guy is a bunch of SOBs."

I guess it boils down to political campaigning. Over the years (mid 80s to today), Sun has always appeared to take the low road of smear campaigns and "our competitors are inferior jerks who can't seem to pick their nose right."

So far, Google seems to take the high road of providing excellent service without bashing their competition.
