Your are correct except you predict doom for the wrong group.

The far east, much of Europe, Africa, the middle east and South America are going OSS. This means that in a few more years American business will be able to conduct business with other American businesses only. Do you really believe businesses will continue to support software that places such limitations on how, or with whom, they can conduct business?

MS problem, or at least part of it, is they think the customers exist to pay tribute to MS. The fact is MS should exist to provide customers with the tools needed for business. MS is showing their willingness to ignore customer needs in favor of attempting to extend their monopoly.

MS, much the same as SCO, seems to do everything possible to alienate customers. What a bunch of id10ts.

Wrong conclusion. This type of patenting will serve only to ensure MS will not be able to interoperate with the rest of the world. They couldn't possibly patent anything already in the XMP specs. They will suceed in acquiring patent for a system that is already incompatible with everything else. Really foolish move. MS repeatedly demonstrates it's total inability to compete on it's merit. As far as catch-up? MS is, again, the late comer to the XML party.


Do you deny that you are either directly or indirectly paid by MS? I've never seen a forum as full of paid MS shills as this one is. I'll bet chairman billy's family has to hire wailers to morn him at his funeral.
