Forget Web 2.0 then
Then you might as well forget about web 2.0 which is basically looking at using this technology to better the user experience.

User's want it. I think what we have is fear of what is considered new technology when it reality, it's been around since 1996.

Like any other technology, it can be abused. But, proper training and understanding of it can result in better user experiences in the web.

A perfect example of how to write AJAX code the correct way is in the book Ajax in Action published by Manning Publications, written by Dave Crane, Eric Pascarello and Darren James. I really recommend this book to anyone who knows web programming and wants to learn how to make AJAX work the right way.
