Complete misunderstanding
There's a COMPLETE misunderstanding ofwhat is Ajax in the message by "wildranger". In fact, The Ajax engines acts as a local only Javascript engine with which the user interacts locally only. On the web, only XML data is exchanged, and in fact most of the web session is now handled at the client side.

In other words, Ajax helps IMPROVING the privacy while also allowing better interaction andfaster response of web applications, due to the asynchronous model.

The "dangerous" part is Javascript, but this Javascript only reaches the Javax engine, and this Javascript only comes from the engine itself, not from the web.

This means HIGHER security than with web-originating javascript code. With a locally installed Javax engine, there's NO javascript comingdirectly fro mthe web. Nothing can be more secure and friendly than that.

If you think you are more secure with very old browsers that still don't support Javascript and DOM, feel twice. You have certainly missed LOTS of security updates and you're even more exposed to common bugs like malicious images that embed viral worms...

If you want to be really secure with such old browser, then use Lynx, and browse the text-only English-only web, without support for international characters, and with only boring static content.

Yes it will be fast, but you'll loose a lot (try to simply fill easily a input form with Lynx....)

May be you'll want to browse the web by feeling the HTTP GET request manually and deciphering the HTML code ? May be you'll prefer to get the web that looks most like the editing mode of Wiki articles with cryptic conventions like ** and {{}} or special syntaxes to mark macros?

Your response comes from someone that has simply not even read the surface of what AJAX means and why it is NOT Javascript in a web page.
