Nope, You are wrong.....AJAX IS STILL EVIL! WHY?
For one, half your statemenets are incorrect...for example, in saying 10% of browsers have Javascript turned off, is a fact! Office has NOTHING TO DO WITH IT! If 10% of a million users get a crashed web page, thats VERY BAD folks! AJAX is just bad because of its dependency on a client-side technology.

Nope, wrong again on the proxies...Im with a wireless carrier now and they dont let me send any scripting period! Nope, that wont change much because the whole point mobile is speed and information access. AJAX hinders both because it stands between page-level access to information without a third-party technology. Why would I want by mobile browser to download all this scripting just to get a text message about my next appointment???

AJAX and JavaScripting IS turned off in Nortons for some types of scripting. So are many security agents. Also, in case you never checked, the world is still and will be for some time on dial-up. Yes, thats changing but why send 300 kilobytes of extra code just to have some web page load some special packet of xml when I can clcik a link.

Older browsers, sorry you are wrong on that. The whole point of web design today is INCLUSION, which CSS and XHTML does....ECMAScript-based technologies do NOT! Unless you are set up with Broadband, the latest browser, and free of security constraints, you will dance and sing with AJAX. But what about mobile, disbaled users, blind users, people with aletrnate or old browsers, people on some Linux browsers, Lynx and screen readers, aural browsers, etc. etc. NONE CAN BENEFIT FROM AJAX! Any technology that excludes groups of users on the basis of visual circus tricks is BAD TECHNOLOGY PERIOD!

Finally, AJAX goes against the primary motivation towards XHTML and other technologies in that your web page IS xml now with XHTNML, and there is no need to download via the browers DOM other than for maps and other graphical interfaces. Really there is NO REASON to EVER use this technology with Flash....we have been laoding images and xml packets using Flash the past 5 years, has almost no security risk, cross-browser compatible, and 99% of users can support it. If I turn off Javascript in my browser, have security running, using a mobile device, or using an older browser, I can see AJAX pages. THAT SUCKS no matter how you slice and dice it folks!
