Both you and Donnieboy think every company is a crook. Maybe it is your viewpoint that needs changing.

All Donnieboy suggested was that the GPL was designed to ensure the honesty of corporations, in much the same way that your typical Microsoft EULA is designed to keep the honest folk honest. Dishonest corporations and dishonest people will not abide by either the GPL or EULA.

...Or are you trying to suggest that the only dishonest people around are individuals who have no qualms ripping off software, and hence need a EULA to dictate their rights, while corporations never rip off other peoples' IP and don't need a GPL to keep them honest?

You people call everyone criminals that don't embrace your ideals. I see more criminal minds in the open source camps than proprietory.

You're welcome to read into things the way you want, and your second comment is unsupported opinion. But most people will disagree with you here.

For your info, I am not interested in ripping off GPL code. I pay for the stuff that works. You get what you pay for in life.

If you don't care about ripping off GPL code, then you don't have anything to worry about with GPL version 3. The GPL guarantees that once you have a licensed copy, then no one can take that away from you--even if the software creator changes the terms of the distribution license later. (This is one of the freedoms guaranteed by the GPL to users.) And if you create your own software, but dislike the free software foundation's ideals, then you (being the copyright holder) are free to use whatever distribution terms you like. You can completely ignore GPL 3.

So I don't really see what your big beef is with GPL 3, since it really won't affect you at all. *shrug*
