All stick and no carrot doesn't work
"Going after the home user is a waste. "

Don't really agree with that, they're entitled to pick off the worst of the infringers, but it does look like a stick-without-carrot approach by the RIAA.

There's still only 1 site I've found that sell music to me how I'd like to buy it:
http://www.magnatune.com/

Others come close, e.g. Bleep from Warp :
http://www.warprecords.com/bleep/

Apparently sell high quality VBR Mp3s on a simple sales basis. GREAT.
I chose some records, they wanted 5-6 euros, I thought they were were 10 euros.
But then I had to open an account, (now worth 9 euros), agree to an EULA (now worth 8 Euros), the EULA said "agree not to bypass security measures on the music" (Some mistake? 6 euros)....

I read to about point 14 in the EULA, by then the value to me was about 3 euros, the price wanted was 5, so I abandoned the order. Close but no sale.

I reckon this latest round of RIAA lawsuits will ultimately fail too, without the carrot of a good download site. People will reduce trading, then it will go up again.
