shoofly -- just trying to point out...
...that you are on the opposite side of the issue doing the EXACT SAME THING you accuse the MS "fans" of doing. Everything you accused him of doing you did yourself in that message, which is why it was so easy to turn around. It may have been an "intellectual meat grinder, turning in circles without producing anything", but remember, it was your original argument, not mine.

If the MS "fans" are all "shills and trolls", what does that make you? A GNome? Or a monkey (that was a Darwin reference, in case you didn't get it)?

For those of us that don't live in the "I hate MS/Apple/Linux/whatever" stewpot that some of you choose to live in and view these things as the interchangeable tools they truly are, it is funny to watch you guys go at each other, completely ignoring the realities of the world. Very few people here who you would accuse of it are actually big MS "fans", they just can't stand to let some of the glaring inaccuracies and grossly illogical statements by the MS-haters go by. And for the rest of us, it's funny to watch you all get whipped up into ideological and religious ferver over computer code.

The name-calling and incessant replacing of letters with punctuation does little to further the cause of what you purport to support. The reality is that both OS/X and Linux are great O/S's with much to offer those who choose to use them, but the whole world isn't going to change overnight just because you or anyone else thinks it should, and what change happens will occur on the merits of the products alone, not anyone's opinion of the companies or people involved. Larry Ellison and Steve Jobs, from what I hear, are both jack@sses, but that won't stop me from buying their company's products, and Bill Gates' shortcomings won't factor into my decisions, either. Since the reality is that none of these OS's are going away, the best we can all shoot for is higher adoption of Linux and OS/X, forcing MS to finally fix their multitude of issues and potentially getting both Apple and MS to open up their hardware- and OS-specific application software to other platforms, so eventually it becomes purely a matter of personal choice as to which one you use, because they will all do the same thing with the same degree of security and ease.

THAT'S a goal worth working toward.
