Time to trust
You said, "when ms allows oems to sell pc's WITHOUT a OS, only then will I have a better trust that ms is playing fair and not abusing their monopoly power." Ok, JWatson77 you can start trusting. I don't want to burst your bubble here, but Microsoft has absolutely nothing to do with oem decisions to offer, or not offer a PC with or without an OS. Boy, you must be living in a dream world to think that Microsoft can, in 2004, dictate to oem's how they sell their machines. Now, please sit down because this is gonna shock. Large OEMs will only sell a machine with an OS because a) that is what the overwhelming numbers of their customers want, b) because it requires too much support to sell machines with hardware and no way to start it and get it working with no OS. A BIOS is a pretty poor startup, c) branding machines and supporting those brands require working machines. Without an OS a machine cannot work the way the vendor intends. Now maybe YOU could take an empty machine, install an OS and get it all working fine, but most folks can't and the oem doesn't know who can and who can't and they can't afford to support those who can't unless they charge more for those machines.

It has NOTHING to do with Microsoft. OK, you can trust now?
