Microsoft is changing
Obviously, MS is remaking itself, at least in terms of accountability. Over half of their business segments lose money on a regular basis, so the shift in the management flow is to make things better, especially in terms of reporting profits. Unfortunately for MS, the days when Windows OS licensing and office suite licensing carrying the company are over. Their server software needs to be self-sustaining, and the Xbox needs to win the console market. Will these things happen? Not likely. No, it's not just Linux, but pressure from Google and other 'on-demand' software providers. Plus, Sony is not going to just roll over and let MS dictate the console market.

Times are changing and pressure is increasing on MS. Vista, if it doesn't inspire people, could turn MS's licensing structure into a money pit. All of the outside forces, combined, could spell one thing for MS: W-A-T-E-R-L-O-O.
