divest was Jackson's Solution; Breakup was the press's definition of divest
Jackson is indeed a hero and if the US was operating correctly he would be the nominiation for the supreem court and not Mr. Corporate Interests.

The wrong doing at Microsoft just continues. The latest effort is to create a plausable device that the Gates Foundation can fund for humanitarian purpose with its tax payer derived wealth.

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/30/technology/30gates.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

This device, a 100 keyboard computer, would require power source, TV, and a cell phone. MIT's solution is the power source, and with internet access by satelite phone also the TV and cell phone. You don't have cell phones on 3/4 of the planet. Thats water world. Every boat on the ocean should have an MIT device for emergancy and weather monitoring.

Lets not forget that Enron tried not only to create bottlenecks with power but also with Internet access and weather reporting. Must Microsoft pick up on Enron's version of "innovation". The purpose of this business model is to create choke points that can be relieved only by "arbitrage" pricing - read extortion. Such arbitrage profits are available during the greatest time of need such as natural and unnatural disaster from governments and humanitarian organization seeking to do good. The age of the rober barrons has not ended.

BTW - dividends are a form of divestiture, a form of breakup. Jackson, former friend to Microsoft and now the apparent arch enemy of the company, was on track to become a Supreme prior to his career being ruined by drawing that Microsoft case. He really is a hero.
