when the technology already exsists to encrypt and sign a message using public and private keys? You can send a message to someone using their public key and your private key and they can only open it up using their key, and vice versa if they send a message to you. I used to use Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) for that and it worked rather well using Eudora. PGP has since changed to a pay-for version http://www.pgp.com, however Gnu Privacy Guard (GnuPG) http://www.gnupg.org
