You underestimate Microsoft, they are very shrewed about making sure that
things don't ever format exactly right with the competition. They are very shrewed about including all kinds of "free" add-ons, so, once you use them, you are tied to an office system that is more than you need. And, of course understanding their monopoly position in Office suites, they make it almost impossible to get discounts unless you buy ALL components for ALL employees. Microsoft understands that giving the customer what they want can be bad for business. And, this is a cash cow they will protect at all costs.

But, again, smart companies need to keep those Linux/OpenOffice pilots running strong. You will be amazed at how much more cooperative Microsoft will become.
