A couple of years ago, people who would claim or hope that Linux will survive the corporate world were looked at as wishful thinkers and they were jeered at.

Now Linux is supported on almost anything. Low-end PC to high-end supercomputers and clusters. The good news is that the 2.6 kernel looks more and more like industrial strength UNIX.

At the same time desktop platforms are being challenged to prove their true value in terms of cost and productivity vs. fluff and bloat.

Interesting times...
