No, it's because they're valuable.: You're conveniently forgetting the outcry when Jobs killed the
Newton. They didn't sell widely because they were too big.
People liked the Palm form factor better, but to people who
gravitated to the Newton, there was nothing like a Newton, and
there still isn't. The main reason for this was the handwriting
recognition. I know the market for this isn't large--that's why I
keep saying the tablet PC will never catch on--but for people
who really like it, the Newton is the be-all and end-all. That's
why they're still being bought and sold on e-Bay.

So maybe if they're lucky, and they really perfect their
handwriting recognition, someday the tablet PC makers might
inherit the Newton users, after the last remaining Newtons die
