re: Try to see a demo and you'll see
"MSFT said from the beginning that Vista was first and foremost about better security/reliability and new features for developers."

That's great - if you're a developer. What if you're a user? Last I checked, there's a lot more users than developers.

"The most obvious is that most users will no longer need to run in admin mode."

That they should advertise. That would be a good reason to consider it, as running as Admin is a major headache for installing (and in some cases, running!) software right now.

"They're also doing a lot of work to make IE sandboxed."

Suggestion: In addition to sandboxing, also de-integrate it from Windows and make it a separate app again. The lawsuits are over now; there's no more reasons to keep it so tightly integrated.

"One neat feature which I haven't seen anywhere else is that when you ALT/TAB through multiple browser windows the system displays a high resolution thumbnail of the Web pages so you it's easier to stop at the page you're looking for."

Well, I've tried other ALT-TAB sofware, but I must say that they tend to be sluggish, especially when switching from a full-screen app like a game. As long as Microsoft's ALT-TAB stays responsive, that's fine with me. Does it work with Firefox, BTW?

"Also, when you have multiple windows open on the taskbar you can mouse over them and a thumbnail of each window pops up."

As if I don't have enough bubbles on my desktop demanding my attention when I'm in the middle of something! Is there a way to turn them off?

Sounds mostly like feature creep stuff to me - not anything to *really* get excited about, except perhaps the ability to install stuff without being admin.

Just like Windows 98, I probably won't switch to it. Unless, of course, I'm forced to sad.
