You need to realize that adding a few trinkets
``XP added better support for new hardware (wireless cards,
digital cameras and portable music players, etc.), better
networking support, even more security (SP 2), and system
restore, the one redeeming feature of ME.''

is NOT impressive AT ALL, when you look at these COMMON
features from the UNIX perspective.

I agree that people BUY the 'next release' because it offers a
small number of features that are desparately needed in the
current one. NO other vendor would add a few baseline features
and then call this a NEW OS!

Only MS but it gets away because its customers have set the bar
SO LOW.

All the 'exciting' functionality you mention are really TRINKETS
for the people who use their system as an entertainment center
or as an extension of their camera. These are "nice" features but
they are NOT anything compeling at least for an organization to
have and thus switch from W2K to XP.

And the difference with Vista? The 3D icons and .... the tablet?
Geee more trinkets ... how about the gaping security holes? I see
they are now ... translucent.

Ofcourse it is anyones prerogative to waste his money any way
he pleases and also to be a masochist.
