Have you heard of Canvas?
Canvas works with Vector and Raster graphics, and has been
doing so for many years. Still Canvas has always trailed
Freehand and Illustrator in popularity. It beat Corel in ratings. Of
course I read Mac users opinions. I understand Corel is pretty
popular on the PC side. I'm sure Microsoft will have some instant
success with amateur markets. Pro graphics people mostly use
Adobe, Quark, now defunt Macromedia, and Macintosh.
Photoshop has little or no competition because nobody makes a
similar app. that works with high end CMYK graphics and
controls the amount of ink that goes into the specific output. An
example is when you make files for a sheetfed press, but then
you want to run the same files on a Web press and the ink
blocks up on 300,000 pamplets, magazines or whatever. I know
of no other raster file program with Photoshops professional
settings and features.
