Displacement was never your argument
Note that I was responding to the parent post, which was about
taking the market away from Photoshop.

---Not to begin with. I really see it being positioned as another
tool, at least to start with. As features, functions, and the
interface becomes more polished there will be a slow transition
away from Adobe.---

InDesign is seeing some movement away from Quark, but it is a
very long and very slow process. Most printers don't even use
the latest version of Quark, so our files have to be saved down to
one or two versions back when we send them to the printer. But
as I said, there's more space in the consumer market, and that
market lacks the pressures inherent in the professional market,
so I'd expect to see movement there first.

---But sometimes you just gotta take a break and look
around---

Given that I don't do professional print work, and that my needs
are meager, and that I already own Photoshop which goes far
beyond anything I might need to do, I don't feel any compelling
reason to seek out and purchase new tools in this arena. It's
kind of like MS Office for me--I don't need any of the new
features, so why bother spending the money on a new version
when the old one (Office V.X) does everything I need? I'll
certainly read up on the new program, but I can't see spending
any money on it unless my life drastically changes.
