Depends who they are targeting in the market.
I tend to agree the current users will be tough to change, but why assume MS is after such a small market?

Having worked with the pre-beta and beta versions of their new graphics suite I find it outstanding in many ways. The ability to work in both vector and bitmap at the same time simply ROCKS!!! (Something Photoshop simply doesn't do.)

Consider how many people that are NOT graphics pros there are building art work for both documents and web sites and it's easy to see there is a huge untapped market for a product that reduces the complexity and generates great looking graphics.

If these people start using it and (like many MS products) it becomes the defacto standard the "pros" will follow along over time.

The other piece of the suite that few have seen is "Sparkle" and it's a killer app. Anyone that has ever done Flash animations is going to LOVE Sparkle.

I've been working with a few hundred beta users in a private news group and they are all dedicated Photoshop fans. While no one is saying throw Photoshop out, they are indeed saying this suite is a fantastic addition to their tool set.

That is all MS is really after isn't it? (Selling the product.) I don't know about you but most people I know that work in graphics have multiple tools and who knows how many plug ins for them. When they see a great tool that adds something they buy it.

Just remember WordPerfect - Word All it took was some time...
