You are right. 95 was exciting.
Compared to 3.1 it actually offered something useful.
And not much else did at the time.
Macs were (and are!) the domain of the well-to-do, and linux was in its infancy.
Things are changing. Macs will probably come down the price laddr in the near future, and linux is no longer "geeks only". I have had people use my linux box and not even know they were using another o/s.
I'm not anti-microsoft. I'm anti-unstable, anti-expensive, anti-malware-prone.
