The market has proven you wrong
And a product as ubiquitous as Windows has a funny was of shaping people's needs. I'll make the arguement that if it wasn't for the popularity of Windows (and subsequent proliferation of the internet), no one would need the security enhnacements provided by Service Pack 2.

And before some ABMer jumps up and says, "See! All of the internet's problems are Microsoft's fault," they're not, and that's not what I was saying.
