Rule of reduction again
That rule is, If a company has a problrm, lay off the people who can solve it.

Blum has looked at a company which needs to develop products and market them. Thir first recommendation:

Novell could save $225 million in 2006 expenses by cutting research and development, sales and marketing, and general and administrative functions.

By the way, selling off SuSE, as others have recommended, wouldn't succeed. SuSE couldn't make money as a separate, German company, and the effect it's had on Novell is more warning than advertisement.
So who'd buy one of the only two Linux distributions in general commercial use?

If Blum were exercizing clear judgment, they'd sell Novell stock and buy Red Hat's. I read most recently that Red Hat was stealing SuSE's customers, and they're the obvious inheritors after Novell crashes.
Taking down a lot of worthy products with them.
