And no one believed me...
...when I said that the first day of Windows-based iTunes was problematic (to say the least). I deleted the first version of the software and I *may* try the latest and greatest.

However, it is STILL AAC formatted and as many of you have confirmed, you do not have one-stop conversion from AAC to MP3 or OGG or even that evil format, WMA. It still requires extra steps if you don't want to shell out for the iPod.

I personally prefer CDs to hooking up a gadget every time I get some new music. Besides, burning to CD gets the music off the hard drive and out of the sight of the RIAA (which still can't tell the difference between legal and illegal, even with digital watermarking).

Maybe it will behave better as they tweak the software for the quirkiness of Windows, but I will not consider it my only source. MusicMatch is still a better contender, so far, for the MP3 conversions. Not enough OGG support out there, though. It would be nice because I think it has better sound quality than the other formats, even with the compression.
