Not 2 argue semantics...
but whether or not some RDBMS system meets the strictness of Boyce-Codd or anything else in algebra, set theory, or anything aside, it IS A RDBMS and functions moderately well at the task or Oracle porbably could not have gotten this far, and the same goes for Sybase, DB2, M$ SQL, MySQL, Postgre or anything else. All hype aside I don't think trying to trash the available toolsets is going to get very far. I also don't recall an instance where I have ever had or heard of integrity problems with MySQL, maybe it is just me? But you are an obviously astute user of DB technology maybe you know more than the rest of the population and the IT world. Me personally we only use Access 97/200/XP/2003, MSDE 7/2000, SQL Server 6.5/7/2000, Informix 3/4/5/6/7, MySQL4/5, Progressive Embedded, and Borland Embedded database technologies and have used Oracle for two continuos years of classes in school. Probably don't have a very good opinion of what is out there and whether practicality overrides the need for perfection from overly complex and sometimes unusable methematic theories. The bigger circle can go into the smaller square if you use a large enough hammer.
