Why would Oracle's buying Seibel do anything to the install base for MySQL? The customer base for MySQL by and large isn't looking for canned apps to begin with so they would develope their own apps to suit their purposes.
You're right about customer service not getting any better but that's not the fault of the software that's a management issue. One of the big selling points at my company is customer service. We've found you can have the right price but still lose business if your people aren't service oriented.
Well, Seibel's CRM was a viable alternative to the SAP module and one of it's main competitors.
