OSS Changes the Business Model
Techies can argue all day long about whether OSS or IP is better in terms of innovation, quality, reliability and TCO, but really understanding the business model of OSS is much more complex and less understood in my opinion.

With that said of course Novell is going to recommend a blended approach for now. If they OS'd their entire portfolio of apps under GPL, there goes a lot of their profits.

Does anyone have any idea where India and China really are heading with respect to OSS? I know China and several Asian countries are promoting OSS OS alternative, but will China and India start a big movement towards OSS or will their tech economies try to pursue a Novell approach?

In the final analysis, my only concern with OSS is understanding it's business model for the 21st centry tech economy. I can really see how OSS may be the beginnings of a real world movement to:
