Ok, I have to be honest, I also worry about Google
With Gmail, I can not export my address book so I can change services if I am not happy (importing works great), that is evil. Google talk is not yet available for Linux, shutting out part of the web, that is evil. We will be watching Google.

That said, they in general use open standards and interoperate with everybody else. They do not have a cash cow dying monopoly to protect with dirty tricks, so they don't have a reason to be so nast like Microsoft.
