How about you read your own 'research'?
AJAX is not a standard. From your own link:

"Ajax is not a technology in itself, but a term that refers to the use of a group of technologies together"

Here it comes again: AJAX is not a standard. For someone who claims to be an "an architect for MSN Web experience" to be saying that is ludicrous. He is so clueless as to not know that AJAX is just a new term for a bunch of technologies and design patterns that have been around for quite a while.
