It's called FUD
SCO is crosstown Microsoft's Panzy. There
will be no meat to this thing. A lot of people are
adopting Linux for some of thier high end high
dollar hardware, especially IBM because it is
1000 times better than Windows and it's
virtually FREE. Microsoft wants to scare these
people away. Are they going to go after DSD
UNIX and Darwin and even Apple? This is like
the guy who sold DOS to Microsoft for $60,000
or whatever wanting billions and a cut on every
Windows PC sold. Microsoft found out about
lawsuits after their stongarm tactics over
Netscape. The bottom line is if someone is in
a high profile court case, they become
vulnerable in the public's eye. IBM is on a Roll
and dumping Windows on a lot of their
products. IBM has superior processors and
machines than Wintel can match and IBM is
running Linux on mainframes, midframes,
and all but their cheap boxes. The idea is to
scare potential customers of IBM, etc from
using Linux because an unknow and probably
high fee might be levied for using a FREE
product. It's a scare tactic. There's a lot of
Apple code in Windows and especially
Windows Media stuff. Apple knows it and
nothing will ever be said. Steve Jobs is
actually flattered when Microsoft copies Apple,
because it means Apple is doing something
right. These FUD lawsuits never amount to
much and are for the press more than
anything.
