SCO sues Novell over copyright claims

I tend to agree...: This is a sideshow, and not a particularly well-orchestrated one at that.I only see one argument succeeding. Basically, Novell can argue "We sold every right we had under copyright, but didn't sell the copyright itself." That's an untested argument, but as copyright does permit an author to sell rights to various entities and still retain ownership; the same should be true if one sells those rights to one owner without explicitely transfering the copyright.
