Just finishing a more visible title for your excellent point.

I first reacted as most people, totally against MS (in this affair). But after thinking of it I thought (as you apparently) that MS was quite appropriate when offerring to repay the $10 registration fee and take back the "Mikerowesoft.com" domain.

OTOH this guy, as Nissan (the guy) and McDonald (the numerous guys), should be allowed to use their own names in business, may be with just a warning that they are unrelated otherwise to the well known company. On the web, this rule would simply require from them to put that statement on top of their home page, with in addition a link to the said well known company.
