Anyone remember the Nissan case?
Nissan Motor Company vs. Nissan Computer Corp.?

Guy with the last name of Nissan owned (and still owns) nissan.com and had for quite some time. It was his last name, was used for his business (he wasn't just sitting on it), his business had nothing to do with cars, and I believe Nissan was still known as Datsun here in the US when he registered the domain.

Nissan (the car company) sued him; this battle went on for quite some time. The end result of which, as I recall, was that he could keep the domain name but couldn't use it for any commercial purpose, so now it just sits there, thumbing its nose at Nissan (the car company).

This case seems very similar, albeit with spelling differences. MS could have (and surely now will) handle it better, but the legal issues are much the same, and if Mike Rowe is as stubborn as Mr. Nissan, the outcome is likely to be much the same.

Say what you will about MS, defending one's trademarks is in NO WAY unique to them.
