Sounds like a market problem to me.
I wonder who died and left Axe the arbiter of newsworthiness? Probably the same guy who sold Jack his beanstalk beans. Axe seems to think we're all so gullible; we'll swallow his insistence that his opinion is paramount.

Here's an idea Jack, I mean Axe. If you don't think an article is worthy of being news, then don't read it, don't comment upon it, ignore it! Don't even generate a page hit! Do that often enough and maybe, just maybe, you'll change ZD-Net. Commenting though that an article is unnecessary and not newsworthy has the opposite effect you intend. It drives up page hits, increases ad-view revenue, and more than that: encourage ZD-Net to publish even more articles of the type you despise. You'd be far better served by not posting snide, trite insinuative commentary; if indeed your purpose is to show displeasure with an article's newsworthiness.

What a concept? Apply your beloved market forces to your posting! Influence the market by simply not buying the product? Isn't that the way to change the market, even the market for media such as the article? You say it's true of Microsoft software, and yet, rather than exercise your supposed right to not read, you make a comment to generate even more page hits thus encouraging more articles of that type. Practice what you preach!

Or don't, because frankly, I enjoy reading such articles, and if your little digressions up ZD-Net's profits by even a penny, and at the same time encourage them to publish more articles I like, then in the end, you'll have done me, and all others like me a favour. I suppose I should thank you.

Thank you Axe for acting so perniciously against your best interests!
