Interix
I seem to recall a COTS product from a company known as OpenNT. They changed their name to Interix. They allowed a user to run Unix shell scripts on Windows NT OS. This was quite useful for manipulating text data using Unix shell commands. Microsoft bought the company. Winows Services for UNIX displays the same Interix icon that came with the Interix product before they were bought out by Microsoft. I suppose I should be grateful that I was able to continue to use Interix for a couple more years before MS pulled the plug. Once they owned Interix they could have fired everyone and shut them down immediately.
