I'm Charlie, I'm with YOU, OpenOfc is Crapware
Until the Nix fans can offer a reasonable alternative to m$ desktop productivity software, all this "I'm a consultant for big boys and they love my stuff" falls on deaf ears.

Believe me, I'd love to be able to get a SOAPbox big enough to foment revolt against The Bill, but I'm too busy chewing gum and twisting baling wire to patch the only DESKTOP SUITE which is in use by my clients - and that's MS Office, whether I like it or not.

Ever try a duplicating the functionality of an Excel 2000 or XP Pivot Table in OO? Ever have a client with sophisticated Word Templates, featuring embedded macros, that have served them well over 7 years and are as much a part of the Corporate Culture as the coffee pot and the sheltered smoking area?

How about power grids whose managers rely on data acquisition and analysis using embedded m$-compliant code (Excel macros)?

The electronic infrastructure is rapidly approaching the state of ill-repair of the physical infrastructure in this country, and diatribes about some warmed-over Nix crap from the early-eighties ain't gonna do the trick.

Where are the true entrepreneurs, now that we need them?

Writing viruses and Trojans, because they can't get a decent paying job in this country?

There are no easy answers; there are too easy passionate replies. Meanwhile, business goes on, and flame wars such as this are the mirrors we blame for our zits.
