Big deal
My current TV supports all the analogy channels but I still need a stinking box to get cable TV. I need box to get Satalite too. No HDTV either, just a normal TV bought a 6 months ago.

Also I know a guy working for the Satalite co, Bell Express Vu. Anyways he figures this whole mandate thing will just add $100 to the price of TV and it won't do a thing because every cable company and satalite service out there has some proprietary set up that requires thier own tunners. I mean I can't take Shaw reciever from one city to the next and I'm still dealing with the same company.

So do you really think 1 tuner in the TV is going to do squat? And what about dual and triple tuners. You can be the set top box with them like that. Allows you to record one channel while watching another.

Now the thing with DRM as has been explained to you before is to view it you get the key. If you have the key you control the DRM. Simple isn't it? Now they don't tell you that you have the key, all part of that seemlessness, but it's there.

So what's this mean? Well it means I can put a copy on the net and if you don't have the key you can't play it unless I give you the key. Not so seemless. Better yet I could create a copy stripped of DRM and post that instead.

DRM works great if I want to send you a confidentail document that only you and I can read. Say lawyer client kind of stuff. A copy sent as an attachment stored in some SMTP cache somewhere would be useless to anyone but the myself and my client. This is true because niether of us would devulge the key.
