Legal loop holes ...
If (big if) IBM and Novell illegally transferred SCO?s codes to the GPL:

1. Linux community had SCO?s codes LEGALLY because the SCO was fully aware of it (it means they agreed that their codes are under the GPL) and did not file legal papers against IBM and Novell at that time (do not forget the GPL).

2. It means that the SCO has no legal rights to harm Linux community (because at that time everything was legal). This is not Linux fault that the SCO did not file legal papers against IBM and Novell (if the SCO made a mistake - nobody should pay for the SCO).

3. Thus, if the SCO will win - the SCO may request to remove SCO?s codes, but they do not have rights to charge nor Linux distributors (including IBM and Novell), nor Linux customers.

In this case Linux World have rights to request maybe a year to rewrite the codes and adjust Linux for no charge (the SCO should wait for ...).

4. If you will pay attention - the SCO got in a legal loop hole (one part - they may have rights, another part - they have nothing). For example, If IBM and Novell are illegally transferred codes to Linux - IBM and Novell legally got Linux back (because nobody filed papers against Linux being aware of the situation). SCO?s codes were legally transferred to the GPL by the SCO (therefore, IBM and Novell violated nothing).

Thus, what should be done to a person who created troubles for many for the purpose to get money from all of them using blackmail?
