I don't.
I'm inclined to agree with those that think the initial goal was a buyout. McBride stated in interview early-on that buyout might be an acceptable outcome. The problem is, IBM was smart enough not to set the precedent of ecouraging every con artist that comes along, and that left SCO to continue to play the hand or fold. My guess is that they thought they had a case, or could present a credible public face, not realizing that other individuals and firms kept good records.

So now we're being treated to the McCarthyite tactic, changing the charges constantly. Who knows what the case is about? Actually, it's anything SCO can make of it - which is why the judge is as much in the dark as the rest of us.

With all the outside help SCO is apparently getting, you can't discount entirely that they will stumble across a case, but so far nothing has emerged. But meantime, they have managed to pump the stock considerably, so at least one goal might have been met.

But I think IBM's objective is to make an example of this blackmailer, not reward them with a buyout.
