We do need a Google branded Firefox.
That would be the best way for Google to deliver all of their tools and keep them updated. Google does NOT need to supply an OS, rather run on any OS. The idea that Marc Andreesen had years ago was right, he was just ahead of his time. You need a critical mass on broadband for that to work. In the future I can see a whole platform develop based on Firefox, Google, Amazon, Salesforce, . . . .
