Sleep mode is like general anesthesia
A few patients die, no matter what you do.

The only time my Thinkpads crash, pretty much, is going to sleep or waking up. A machine that doesn't need a reboot for a month in the office generally dies every day or two on the road. No doube it's my fault for having installed some unruly device driver or antivirus software, but I always save my work before putting the machine to sleep.

Saving work is something that ALL machines should do before sleeping, not just desktops... and it sure would be nice if Windows could tell me something about why sleep/wakeup was causing crashes, rather than just thinking for several minutes and then spontaneously rebooting.
