Great attitude. Blame the user. Make a coaster for him, instead of letting his CD-burning software do what is OBVIOUSLY the right thing and veto sleep mode--or at least engage in a dialog about it.

The problem today isn't that applications CAN veto sleep mode, but that poorly designed applications veto sleep mode for stupid reasons (like Word 2000 when it has a dialog box open, I believe). Making sleep mode mandatory and inflexible is a giant step backward. This feature needs some clearer thinking.
