The difference is
that unless you apply a flaky third hand patch to your kernel source code and recompile it, there is no hibernate or stand by in Linux. So of course there would be more excitement. I would be more excited, that's for sure.

I have gotten that flaky patch to work, but I wouldn't trust it on a laptop I rely on, at least not unless I carried an extra boot disk with me.

That's another "almost but not quite there" feature that's holding Linux back on the desktop (or more specifically, the laptop), and one that Linus Torvalds and his droogies need to personally get more involved in, seeing that this is a kernel issue and not a GUI issue.
