put up a sign on your desktop? Or maybe a little pop-up balloon comes up and says, "Please wait. We are currently gathering your data and formatting it for transmission to our secret server in Germany. Please do not open your next 10 credit card bills."

The only completely secure computer is a dead computer. I disagree with the notion that its only a matter of time. I'm proactive about my security, and I don't have problems. Not saying I never will, but it's fairly unlikely. Either way, I accept the risk of leaving the system on.
