The web browser doesn't answer all scenarios
How will that work while I am on the road and can not get a wired or wifi connection? That is the problem with all this stuff. Web browsers are glorified 3270 sessions and do not work unless connected. You need a desktop OS with locally written apps to get things done in a disconnected mode.

We can argue about whether MS is the right desktop platform but do have one thing right. Build desktop apps that blend the web, web services, and the power of the desktop OS and processing power
